Fishlore Terms of Use

Effective 18 September 2026

These terms and Apple's licence

Fishlore is licensed to you by Tofesoft under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms add to it. By using Fishlore you agree to both.

What Fishlore does

Fishlore identifies a fish from a photo, on your device, and shows you the fishing rules we have transcribed from official sources for the region you are in: minimum and maximum sizes, closed seasons and bag limits. You enter the length. Every rule is shown with its source and the date we last checked it.

The rules are information, not a judgement

Fishlore states the rule and your measurement. It never tells you that a fish is legal to keep. Whether to keep or release a fish, and whether you comply with the law where you fish, is your decision and your responsibility.

Identification can be wrong

Fishlore's identification is a best estimate from a photo. It can misidentify a fish, especially between look-alike species, outside the regions it was trained on, or from a poor photo. When it is unsure it shows you close matches to compare. Do not rely on it where a mistake would matter, for example to decide whether a fish is safe to eat.

Your photos and catches

Your photos and catch log are yours. They stay on your device, as described in the Privacy Policy. We claim no rights over them.

Paid features

If Fishlore offers paid features, they are sold by Apple through in-app purchase under Apple's terms. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it in your App Store settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Open data

The fishing rules contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. The sources are listed on the Licences page.

No warranty, limited liability

Fishlore is provided as it is, without any warranty that it is accurate, complete or uninterrupted. As far as the law allows, Tofesoft is not liable for any loss arising from your use of Fishlore, including a fine, a penalty or the confiscation of a catch that follows a wrong identification or an out-of-date or mistranscribed rule. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may change these terms and post the new version at this address with a new effective date. If you keep using Fishlore after a change, the new terms apply.
